Taken at its core, the Star Wars mythology is about the Skywalker family. Although we have been introduced to a number of characters that we love, the episodic tales have to revolve around their story. As excited as fans are to see future tales of other characters, the sequel trilogy has to be about the Skywalker's and their next adventure. Jacen Solo is the son of Leia and Han, the nephew of Luke Skywalker and the grandson of Anakin Skywalker. The prequel trilogy saw the seduction and fall of Anakin Skywalker to the Dark Side. The original trilogy had Luke Skywalker resist the temptation of the Dark Side and redeem his father Anakin. The sequel trilogy has to be about Jacen Solo's embrace and fall to the Dark Side. Throughout the Expanded Universe, Jacen Solo's journey has been about the philosophical side of the Light and Dark and his belief that one could exist in a sort of "grey" or in-between side. In the end, Jacen's belief that the ends always justify the means leads him to the Dark Side. With his fall, Jacen embraces the Sith philosophy and dubs himself Darth Caedus. The best part of Jacen's story is that it can be questioned if he was redeemed at the end. Jacen Solo is what all Star Wars fans wish they would have seen on film in Darth Vader before he wore the armor. He has to be the villain in Episode VII. However, that being said is a tall order as Jacen's story evolved over countless books and novels. Getting the full treatment that he deserves for his character to carry the proper weight could be challenging but well worth it if pulled off right. What do you think?
