Star Wars 7: 8 Expanded Universe Villains We Could See For Episode VII

2. Grand Admiral Thrawn

If you couldn't tell that I'm a big fan of Timothy Zahn and his Heir to the Empire trilogy, then maybe the nomination of a third villain from the series will solidify that. Much like his creator being the father of the Expanded Universe, Grand Admiral Thrawn is the Godfather of baddy's. No other character has more detail and background in the Expanded Universe than his - With the exception of characters first brought to life on screen. Thrawn is from a race of aliens known as the Chiss. The Chiss are from a region of space bordering the known galaxy and the Unknown Regions and are a humanoid species known for their unique features. Look at pictures or visit any Comic Con event and I guarantee you'll see a few Chiss cosplaying about. Thrawn was Palpatine's master military tactician but was not present at the time of the Battle of Endor where the Emperor was defeated. Much like Daala, Thrawn would return to try and save the Empire from falling to the Rebel Alliance. During his campaign to save the Empire, Thrawn would create an alliance with the clone Joruus C'boath. Thrawn is one of the most beloved villains in the Star Wars Expanded Universe and the casting of his character in Episode VII could go down as a classic role for any actor. Even if we do not get a glimpse of Thrawn himself, it is a guarantee that we are introduced to the Chiss species. That being said, Grand Admiral Thrawn would be my number one if not for this last character...
