There was a certain trajectory that the main characters were heading towards at the end of Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi, even without the expanded universe to fill in the blanks. Assuming we're not blind-sided with some shocking plot developments (Han cheating on Leia and running off across the galaxy!), then we can safely assume that, a few struggles aside, the happy ending depicted in the closing moments of episode six lasted for thirty years. Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa): Chancellor of the New Republic and hero of the galaxy. She helped bring in sweeping reforms that dissolved the Empire's grip on the galaxy and brought peace and prosperity to all systems. Harrison Ford (Han Solo): Leia's husband and retired general. He helped his wife systematically break up the empire but has always struggled with the spot light. He'll still take the Falcon out for a test drive once in a while with his old pal Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew). The latest rumours suggest he'll play a pivotal role in the new film. Perhaps his past comes back to haunt him? Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker): Jedi master and head of the new order. He spent years searching for potentials and has set up a new academy. Unlike his predecessors, he was able to balance love and family with his duties. Anthony Daniels (C3PO) and Kenny Baker (R2D2): Loyal aides to Chancellor Leia, still living life as the 'odd couple'. Of course just because the names above have been confirmed from the original cast doesn't mean we should rule out the possibility that Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calarissan) could be back or that we will likely have some cameos from familiar characters such as Admiral Ackbar and Mon Mothma, but right now the above is the main stars from the previous two trilogies who will be returning. Now let's move on to the newbies...
