4. Oscar Isaac - A Smuggler / Criminal With A Heart (Jacen Solo?)
We're not going to go with the obvious son of Han and Leia, Jacen Solo, at least not in the expanded universe sense. Instead we're going to tap into the one vital element that was missing from the prequel trilogy; the rogue we all love. While Han Solo looks set to have a prominent role in the first film, I think this may his blaze of glory. As the story moves on to the children of Han, Leia and Luke in episodes eight and nine, we need that slightly shady, sarcastic, edgier character to aid the Jedi heroes played by Daisy Ridley and John Boyega and Oscar Isaac could very well fill that role. He could well be the Jacen Solo from the novels, a man who follows his father's old path rather than train as a Jedi. Alternatively (and because we do not condone any Game Of Thrones-style incest here), he could be no relation to the other heroes at all and play a second potential love interest for Ridley's Jedi (or if they really want to be progressive, Boyega's). Either way, he needs to add the spark into the hero dynamic and continue the legacy left by Han and Lando.
A writer for Whatculture since May 2013, I also write for TheRichest.com and am the TV editor and writer for Thedigitalfix.com . I wrote two plays for the Greater Manchester Horror Fringe in 2013, the first an adaption of Simon Clark's 'Swallowing A Dirty Seed' and my own original sci-fi horror play 'Centurion', which had an 8/10* review from Starburst magazine! (http://www.starburstmagazine.com/reviews/eventsupcoming-genre-events/6960-event-review-centurion) I also wrote an episode for online comedy series Supermarket Matters in 2012. I aim to achieve my goal for writing for television (and get my novels published) but in the meantime I'll continue to write about those TV shows I love!
