1. What Is His Problem With Luke Skywalker?

There’s only a handful of people who truly hated Luke Skywalker. One of them, Emperor Palpatine, is no longer around. Another, Darth Vader, turned allegiances shortly before his death. And the final one is Ponda Baba, who we last see clutching for his arm after Obi-Wan Kenobi sliced it off in a Mos Eisley cantina in A New Hope.

So, therefore, Snoke’s hatred of Luke Skywalker is fascinating. Why does he spend the Force Awakens bullying Kylo into finding the map to the former Tatooine resident? Even after the Last Jedi, we were never given an answer.

Andy Serkis has suggested that Snoke’s scarring is key to his character’s backstory and that implies that Luke may have been the one behind it. Mark Hamill’s character has scars - albeit emotional ones - of his own in the Last Jedi yet we never learn why Snoke was so keen to bring him down.

It could just all be about power, and how Skywalker is an obstacle to Snoke garnering it. However, nothing is ever quite THAT simple in the Star Wars universe...
