Star Wars 7: What You Should Watch To Familiarise Yourself With The New Cast Members
6. Oscar Isaac - Inside Llewyn Davis
The Coen Brothers very rarely make a bad film, evidenced by how almost all of their creations in the past three decades (aside from the odd misstep such as the Ladykillers remake and criminally, both Miller's Crossing and The Big Lebowski) have been nominated for a combination of Oscars, BAFTAs and Golden Globes. Their most recent film, Inside Llewyn Davis, was no different, garnering 2 Oscar nominations for its story of Llewyn Davis, a struggling folk singer in the early 1960s. At its heart is Oscar Isaac, who delivers a convincing and understated performance and performs all of his musical scenes live. The sci-fi world of Star Wars couldn't be further from the 1960s Greenwich Village folk scene, but the rugged Isaac (who has also appeared in the likes of Robin Hood and The Bourne Legacy) certainly has the ability to make the transition to what is described as a 'significant role' in J.J. Abrams' creation.
