Star Wars: 7 Ways Episodes 8 And 9 Could Actually Improve The Prequels
5. Give Prequel Characters Cameos
The existence of Force ghosts in Star Wars lore paves the way for deceased Jedi from all six movies that predate the sequel trilogy to return in spirit, and there are a number of prequel characters who could have a meaningful impact on the story.
The strongest contender for an appearance from beyond the grave is Anakin Skywalker, who could potentially steer his grandson Kylo Ren onto a different path, given how much he reveres him and wants to "finish what [he] started".
There have been rumours of a sneaky Hayden Christensen cameo, and if those turn out to be true, he might even find some measure of redemption in the eyes of Star Wars fans for the two wooden performances he turned in during the prequel era, providing his presence enriches The Last Jedi.
Vader also fits in with Last Jedi's grey morality and the concept of Force users who draw from both ends of the spectrum. In a sense, prequel Anakin is an early example of what Luke, Rey and Kylo could become, and also a cautionary tale for them.
In other words, Christensen's Vader could be an asset to the sequel trilogy's story and his inclusion would in turn boost Episode I, II and III's street cred.
