Star Wars: 7 Ways Episodes 8 And 9 Could Actually Improve The Prequels
4. Connect Snoke To The Events Of The Prequels
The mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke isn't necessarily going to turn out to be a returning character from the prequel trilogy, but it would certainly thrust Episodes I, II and III back into significance if it did come to pass.
The theory that Snoke and Darth Plaguis are one and the same appeared to have merit until Pablo Hidalgo of the Lucasfilm Story Group, a man who plays a key role in dictating what is Star Wars canon, poked fun at such claims on Twitter.
It's worth noting that Hidalgo could be guilty of a white lie here, in the interest of protecting the sequel trilogy's big twist, but even if Snoke ends up being an original character who has never appeared in a Star Wars movie prior to The Force Awakens, there are other ways to connect him to the prequels.
Perhaps Snoke was watching from the shadows while the Clone Wars was raging and the Empire was rise to power. Maybe he even had a hand in these events and those which followed in the original trilogy's chronology.
Having Snoke serve as a threat that was two trilogies in the making would make the prequels a more significant part of the events that are unfolding in the latest movies.
