Star Wars: 8 Characters Who Will Die By The End Of Episode IX

2. Kylo Ren

Lucasfilm

In terms of development in a single movie, Kylo Ren is the most interesting, layered Star Wars villain to-date, aided by a superb performance from Adam Driver, who really sells all the pain, anger, and conflict of the character, in particular in the scene where he, y'know... However, in the climactic battle he's defeated by Rey, a novice (although he is admittedly wounded quite a bit).

That is going to play out throughout the new trilogy, as Rey becomes a Jedi and Kylo Ren continues his own training, perhaps on the path to becoming a Sith Lord. Regardless of the familial relationship between the pair (though they're most likely cousins) they are going to be rivals throughout, and hopefully match their awesome lightsaber duel for The Force Awakens.

There's a bit of debate over whether or not Ben is redeemable. After all, Vader was in the end. But Kylo Ren has killed Han Solo. HAN FREAKIN' SOLO. It's difficult to accept someone coming back from that. He chose the Dark Side, he's on a collision course with the Light, and it's going to end in his death.
