3. Never-Before-Seen Force Powers
Luke projecting his image across to another planet convincingly was unexpected to say the least. To not only fool Kylo Ren but the audience as well was something never experienced with a Star Wars movie. It pushed the boundaries and expanded the lore.
We also saw Rey and Kylo Ren essentially Space-timing, with Kylo bringing water back with him from Rey's location. Could we be about to see Star Wars bring in force teleportation? That would be a huge step in a new direction - almost into Star Trek territory.
That may not sit well with a lot of fans, especially since it has never been explored before by any of the previous powerful force-users. By that logic it would seem like this new power was a little out of place... and it was. But that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing.
It would also be interesting to know more about how Snoke was able to achieve this feat and why Kylo was convinced that if Rey was the one doing this it would kill her. Somehow (given Snoke's death) it seems unlikely we will ever find this out in the films.
