STAR WARS Blu-rays Coming September, Pre-Order Now!
At the CES Show in L.A. - Lord Vader and his Stormtroopers announced that the Star Wars Blu-rays are coming in September and you will have three options of how you want to purchase them. In fact, you can even pre-order them now from Amazon (UK) and Amazon (US). Star Wars: The Complete Saga will come on a bummer 9-disc set (though if LucasFilm are true to their word, we won't be getting the original theatrical editions of the first trilogy) - which is pre-ordering at $89.99 ($139.99 RRP) and £69.99 at Amazon (£89.99 RRP). The Original Trilogy (Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi) at $44.99 (US) and £33.99 (UK) - The Prequel Trilogy (Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith) also at $44.99 (US) and £33.99 (UK). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDHzlF4RWdo At least Lucas is giving us the option of completely erasing the more recent films from our memory but what about getting rid of Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker from the end of Return of The Jedi? I don't particularly want to see those Star Wars versions, even if they are in 1080p HD. Here's a snippet from the press release;
Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray will feature all six live-action Star Wars feature films utilizing the highest possible picture and audio presentation, along with three additional discs and more than 30 hours of extensive special features including never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes, an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives, and much more.Surprisingly, there was no mention of 3D or anything like that... but again, plenty more years left in Lucas' mileage to release further sets. Now what I would really love for a cool new extra would be for LucasFilm to record multiple new audio commentaries, one with some well known Star Wars geeks. Who doesn't want to see an audio commentary on the trilogy from the likes of Kevin Smith, Simon Pegg, J.J. Abrams and Seth McFarlane???
