Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was released to mixed reviews in December and it only recently managed to struggle past the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. Whether you loved or hated it, it's clear that the majority of moviegoers simply could not get on board with director J.J. Abrams and writer Chris Terrio's vision for the final chapter in the Skywalker Saga.

Before they were hired to work on Episode IX, Jurassic World helmer Colin Trevorrow was tasked with ending this long-running story with a movie he titled Duel of the Fates. Reported "creative differences" brought an end to that and, in recent weeks, there have been various plot and concept art leaks.

However, none of that was as revealing as what you'll find here.

In this latest leak, we see exactly what Trevorrow had planned for this adventure, including brand new Force powers, a completely different look for Kylo Ren, and a Force Ghost moment fans have argued should have been included in the Rise of Skywalker (instead of a series of disembodied voices). Duel of the Fates would have definitely been a very different beast so strap in and take a look at what might have been...

10. Attack On The Eclipse Star Destroyer

This action-packed shot shows Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron battling their way through the Eclipse, a new type of Star Destroyer. Their plan during this opening battle was to destroy a power shaft supplying raw ore to a First Order factory below. However, things quickly went awry for our heroes, hence why they're on the run.

You might notice that Rey is wielding a double-bladed lightsaber here and that's because she would have combined the remains of Anakin/Luke Skywalker's blade with her trademark staff to finally create her own Jedi weapon. It's badass and without a doubt makes more sense than her somehow repairing a lightsaber that was quite literally torn in two during the events of The Last Jedi.

Regardless, the Resistance's plan ultimately would have failed but Rey, Finn, and Poe were actually going to then steal this Star Destroyer, giving their fellow Rebels a powerful new weapon and delivering a still undeniably significant blow to the First Order in the process.
