1. Nathan Fillion
If the filmmakers are looking to lighten the load and make Episode 7 a little less portentous and self-serious than previous films, giving Nathan Fillion a meaty starring role might be a way to do it. A geek favourite since starring as Mal on Joss Whedon's marvellous series Firefly, Fillion has the physical presence to make action scenes convincing, but more importantly, has the sort of wry wit and charm that Star Wars is sorely in need of. As a Han Solo-esque rogue, he would be a perfect fit, perhaps at odds with the young Jedi character as in the original trilogy, if giving Fillion enough room to forge his own character rather than simply try to replicate Harrison Ford's magnificent portrayal. Of all the possible casting choices, this is surely the one that would go down the best, though it's also important to remember that if Episode 7 is going to go the route of Lucas' relatively humourless approach - which it absolutely should not - then fans might be disappointed by this casting.
