Star Wars Episode 7: 10 Reasons J.J. Abrams Will Ruin It

2. He Doesn't Do Endings Well

Star Trek is the biggest exception here, but Abrams generally fails to stick the landing with the various projects he has overseen and directed. Lost's finale was wildly divisive - and personally, I loathed it - while Cloverfield closed in the most rotely predictable manner possible, and Super 8 felt like something of an anti-climax. These three projects all have something in common - they were great fun and had tremendous promise, but fell apart at the tail-end, tainting our view of what had come before. So, even if we're 90-something minutes into Episode 7 and all seems to be well, there's still going to be that creeping paranoia that Abrams won't be able to end things on a strong note. Star Trek's close proved us wrong, so let's hope that wasn't just a fluke.
