10. Episodes I - III
Let's get this out of the way immediately. There was a time - and it wasn't so long ago either - when Star Wars fandom was bordering on a religious practice. Those original three movies, Episodes IV - VI, changed
everything, not only for the Science Fiction genre, but for Hollywood as a whole. Then, all those years later, Lucas decided it'd be pertinent to completely ruin it all with Episodes I - III. For a die-hard fan of the originals, watching them I felt as holy man would if he found a lost page of the Bible that read 'all characters and events within are fictional and intended for entertainment purposes only'. Many fans, myself included, have never quite recovered from the sudden loss of faith. Sure, this new Star Wars movie might be infinitely better than Episodes I - III, but for countless of us out there, the damage has already been done and furthermore, it's irreparable. So for those of us who, for all intents and purposes, are finished with the franchise after the whole I - III debacle, this new outing probably represents more another in a long line of slaps in the face than worthwhile cinematic pursuit.
