9. The Story Has Been Told
There's one important story in the Star Wars canon and that's the tale of young Luke Skywalker, his journey to master the ways of the force and his battle against the Dark Side and the Empire. The rise of Darth Vader was admittedly a potentially interesting extra facet to that story (despite the fact that it was executed so poorly), but then really, what more do you need to know? Everything else is semantics, really. All the Universe expansion that's been done through comics, video games fanfiction is all well and good, but as part of the main movie canon, hasn't everything of real worth already been divulged to us? This third movie will do nothing but expand the Star Wars Universe further - which is already cumbersome, bloated and inconsistent as it is. I argue that making a whole new trilogy is akin to adding 12 chicken nuggets to a large Big Mac meal - it's greedy, unnecessary and it won't be good for anyone.
