8. Franchise Disillusionment
OK, maybe this isn't a reason the new Star Wars movie will
suck, per se, but its certainly a reason that thousands upon thousands of disgruntled fans will
say it sucked, regardless of the actual outcome. Again, way back when, Star Wars boasted one of the most extreme and dedicated fanbases ever seen and while SW fans are still a pretty dedicated bunch, over years of bastardization, dilution, re-mastering and unnecessary tampering many are now completely disillusioned with the entire franchise. Many of us view the franchise as sort of an abusive loved one - there's still something there that we can't quite let go of, but we've been slapped about so many times that there's literally zero trust left in the emotional bank account. What can a new Star Wars film
possibly offer those that feel this way? My guess is not a whole lot.
