Star Wars Episode 7: 10 Reasons Why It Will Suck

3. Forcing Story

Are there really any loose ends in the current Star Wars continuity? If there ever were, hasn't Lucas already wrapped everything up with Episodes I - III? And without any loose ends to speak of, Disney will invariably look to force some in inorganically for Episode 7. Let me just take a step back a second. Does anyone out there actually want a new set of Star Wars films? Are they an answer to a need? A supply to a demand? Or are Disney just pushing yet more unnecessary product into an already over-saturated franchise in the hopes that there's still enough juice left in it to translate into revenue? I unfortunately can't help but feel its the latter and in my experience, this never makes for good storytelling. I sincerely hope Disney force me to eat my words, that Episode 7 is actually mind-blowing, but I'm just to cynical at this stage to believe that it will. I'm expecting another pointless, forced expansion of the original three films that serves only to further dilute their former eminence. Christ, right now, it sucks to be a Star Wars fan.
