4. A New Audience
It probably won't shock you to learn that there are thousands upon thousands of rabid fans of Star Wars Episodes I - III, mainly made up of the younger demographics who still haven't learned (and maybe won't ever learn thanks to the state of modern mainstream cinema) that CGI insanity doesn't fix or hide an emotionally vacuous story. But, thanks to Episodes I - III, CGI insanity is what they're generally going to want from the new Star Wars movie. And who do you think Disney will aim the new Star Wars films at - the aging, cynical cinephiles of yesteryear who're already convinced it's going to be s**t, or the young, impressionable fans of the new trilogy, who're the ones in the position to pester mummy and daddy into spending £300 on Star Wars merch every Christmas and birthday? If you're asking me, Star Wars Episode 7 will more heavily resemble the new trilogy than the old, in order to cater more directly to this new, impressionable audience. Is that bad? That's for you to decide, but just know, if you think it
isn't then you and I probably wouldn't be able to sustain a conversation for very long.
