Star Wars Episode 7: 10 Ways It Will Resemble JJ Abrams' Star Trek

1. Referential Nods To Prior Films

Star Trek

Even with three stars from the original trilogy reprising their roles, there's no way that Abrams is going to be able to resist including further references to the original trilogy, even with Lucas' insistence that Episode 7 will "honour" rather than "revere" the treasured films.

One need only look at Abrams' 2009 Trek to see how to walk that fine line, with Leonard Nimoy's performance as "Spock Prime" being one of the highlights of the movie, specifically his hilarious one-liner, "Since my customary farewell would appear oddly self-serving..."

Though it will be virtually impossible to avoid having Han, Luke and Leia reference their prior adventures, hopefully Abrams will manage to drop in a few clever references from unexpected corners, and with a writer like Michael Arndt at the helm, my hopes are very high indeed.

Is Star Wars Episode 7 resembling Abrams' Star Trek movies a good idea or not? Let us know in the comments below.
