Star Wars Episode 7: 4 Ways To Improve The Prequel Trilogy Canon

4. Establish The Sith

vader12 There is a lot of important background information dropped in Episode 1. The political guile of Palpatine, the senate and the return of the Sith. None of it is really explained or shown. The novel Darth Plagueis discusses the end of Sidious' training with Darth Plagueis and the real threat of the Sith. While in the film the Sith and met with apathy by the audience. Darth Maul, the best worst character ever, is best example of this. On paper he should be as popular and memorable to fans as Darth Vader, yet he is a lame bad guy (I am not factoring in the Clone Wars Return). The Sith are never presented as a real threat. There is a lot of nonsensical dialogue but there is no proof. If something is a big deal then show us why. Vader made an impact on audiences because he was presented as the ultimate bad guy on screen. The audience should not have to fill in the blanks at home. Episode 7 will more than likely follow the Darth Caedus plot-line with fall of Jacen Solo. If this is the case, establish the Sith on screen. Backtrack to show: who they are, why they are dangerous and the ancestral weakness to the Darkside in the Skywalker gens. It is not enough to just hint about these things to the viewer. These films must clearly show everything that they mention.
