The Merchandise
Now, not everyone likes how merchandise heavy the Star Wars Saga has become but for me the day all this stuff hits (and I love that theres usually a big release date for all this stuff) is the day I feel like the new Star Wars film has officially arrived. Cereal, drink cans, t-shirts, keyrings, mugs, posters, theres just no escaping it. Then theres the midnight toy story opening which are always a joy to go to and even though Im semi promising myself I wont buy all the figures this time around, Im still aiming to hit up a midnight toy store opening because it's freakin; sweet seeing a toy store all decked out in new Star Wars stuff! Then theres the books. The screenplay arrives and thats studied to death. The Making of and Art of books are commented on page by page on all the right forums and its usually a kid's book that gives away the biggest spoiler but annoyingly with very little real detail. Of course in among all that theres the toy fairs with the first images of new characters and figures that leads to more speculation about what were actually going to see in the film. Comic Con becomes a massive deal in that respect and by this stage if you wanted to know every little thing about the Episode 7 its there. From character names, to planets, script, to spoilers, by about the start of start of May you just need this flick so badly youd set fire to an Ewok just for the chance.
