3. There Won’t Be A Death Star Equivalent
They just couldn't, could they? After stuffing Starkiller Base into The Force Awakens (and even making a joke about its Death-Star-but-bigger silliness) and then releasing an entire movie about the original Death Star a year later, Lucasfilm will surely prioritise original ideas over system-smashing spherical space stations in Episode VIII.
For The First Order to seem truly frightening, they need to have their own terrifying schemes. And for Rey, Finn and Poe to feel properly heroic, they'll need to overcome obstacles that we didn't see the original cast overcome decades ago. There's a whole galaxy of possibilities here, and endless storytelling potential in the Force, so hopefully the writers can come up with something we haven't seen before.
Isn't intimidating people, controlling systems and bending the galaxy to your will a tad more useful than just blowing up planets? The original Empire understood that, but The First Order doesn't just yet. Maybe in Episode VIII they'll come up with some original evil ideas.
