Star Wars Episode 8: 6 Major Details Lucasfilm Just Revealed

1. Is Laura Dern Rey's Mother?

Where did this come from? The big casting after Del Toro is Laura Dern, star of Jurassic Park and Oscar Nominee after last year's Wild. There's been nothing rumoured about the actress' involvement in the film (or, really about what any of the new characters could be), meaning there really isn't much to go on here either. So, in lieu of facts (or rumours people love to throw around as facts), I'm going to partake in some massive speculation; is she Rey's mother? The ages match up (if she can be Reese Witherspoon's she can definitely play Daisy Ridley's) and there are some facial similarities between the two actresses. While it may seem a bit odd to suggest such a major plot reveal would come from a cast list, I wouldn't put it past Lucasfilm to beat out the spoiler patrol and reveal who is playing the new Jedi's parents and instead have their in-universe identity be the mystery. Of course, that's working on the age-old Star Wars adage that any woman in the galaxy is related to everyone else, so who knows?
