6. To Learn More About Snoke
The Force Awakens seemed to position Snoke as the sequel trilogy's answer to the Emperor, a shadowy power pulling strings from the shadows and leaving the audience with burning questions afterwards. One movie later, all of this was irrelevant.
Another of the Last Jedi's brazen twists saw Andy Serkis's First Order leader relegated to the role of fodder for Kylo Ren, a minor inconvenience for the emo villain to dispose of on his journey to all-out villainy. Who saw that one coming?
Like the curveball involving Rey's parentage, it was a bold move, but not all of the fans were convinced. They clearly felt trolled, and a significant number of them trolled the film right back by logging onto Rotten Tomatoes and voting it down.
This disgruntled section of the fanbase was desperate to know more about Snoke, where he came from, how he came to look like he was once trampled on by an At-At Walker, and exactly how he is connected to the events of the previous trilogies.
While there's little chance Snoke survived being sliced clean in two by a lightsaber, Episode IX could meet them halfway by delving into the villain's origins, perhaps throwing in a few flashbacks that are meaningful and relevant to the overarching plot.
