With a new threat on the horizon, and the chase for a MacGuffin bringing people together, it has been speculated that, as in The Last Jedi, Rey and Kylo Ren will have to team up to take on whatever is coming from The Beyond.

It's been suggested that the new threat is responsible for a lot of their interactions across the movie, and spinning off that it's quite possible that, despite being on opposite sides, they do have to come together to face down this bigger threat that threatens both of their existences.

Going even further, the duo uniting could be crucial to ending the Skywalker Saga and bringing balance to the Force. That almost happened in The Last Jedi, but it was wrapped up in Kylo still wanting to rule the galaxy. If they can find a true middle ground, then perhaps balance can be achieved, and maybe the new threat is even part of the Force's will to bring them together.
