Star Wars Episode 9: 8 Predictions For The Sequel's Title

5. A Spark Of Hope

When The Last Jedi was announced as the title of Episode VIII, people were quick to realise that the phrase had been elsewhere before then: in the opening crawl of The Force Awakens.

While there's no certainty J.J. Abrams will look to Episode VIII's crawl for his own title, the text does offer up one compelling option - A Spark of Hope.

Within the context of the crawl, it reads: "Only General Leia Organa’s band of RESISTANCE fighters stand against the rising tyranny, certain that Jedi Master Luke Skywalker will return and restore a spark of hope to the fight. But the Resistance has been exposed. As the First Order speeds toward the rebel base, the brave heroes mount a desperate escape...."

That is exactly what's happened, of course. Luke returned - albeit as a projection - and has restored hope to the galaxy, at least in the next generation if not the current one. It's echoed in the movie itself, with Poe calling the Resistance "the spark that will light the fire that burns the First Order down."

Since this movie needs to build upon The Last Jedi, then having that spark of hope ignite during Episode IX and the Resistance win the day is something we can expect to see happen, while the title itself fits not just as part of the Sequel Trilogy, but as a Star Wars title (Hope is a Star Wars word, and Spark fits in a similar way to something like 'Strikes'), and looping back round to the very first movie.
