Star Wars Episode 9: Everything We Know So Far

9. It's On (At Least) Its Fourth Script

Colin Trevorrow was announced as Episode IX's director back in 2015, after which he and regular collaborator Derek Connolly (Jurassic World) began writing their script.

That, however, had to change after the passing of Carrie Fisher, with a new version being drafted because the original had Leia in such a key role. A few months later, though, Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) was brought in to re-write the script, and it was just a month after that Trevorrow was fired.

In came Abrams to write another new version, this time alongside Argo and Batman v Superman scribe Chris Terrio, which is the one that will be filmed. So that's at least four different versions (and possibly more), all from very different visions.
