Star Wars Episode IX: 10 Directors Who Could Replace Colin Trevorrow

4. Matt Reeves

Why He Should Direct: Matt Reeves has basically made a career out of directing movies that probably shouldn't work, from the virally-marketed found footage monster movie Cloverfield, to horror remake Let Me In, and the two most recent Planet of the Apes movies.

He's an extremely confident and sturdy director who has a near-perfect handle on both style and tone, and though he's yet to make a full-on sci-fi movie including spaceships and whatnot, it's easy to imagine him nailing it like he has everything else in his career.

How Likely Is It?: Reeves' next movie is supposed to be The Batman, but considering the movie's free-floating release date, questions about Ben Affleck's involvement and the generally erratic nature of the DCEU, who knows if it will ever even happen?

If The Batman isn't getting started anytime soon, don't be surprised if Kennedy throws an offer his way, because the franchise would be lucky to have him. 5/10
