Star Wars Episode IX: 8 Consequences We'd Like To See With The One-Year Time Jump

6. DJ Doing Literally Anything

Benicio Del Toro's mysterious DJ was the subject of a great many fan theories prior to the release of the Last Jedi (including such ridiculous ones as him being the long-lost son of Boba Fett) and continues to be something of an enigma.

Heck, we didn't even learn his real name in Last Jedi. What we do know is that, although he was never explicitly shown to have escaped the wreckage of the Supremacy, he is alive out there somewhere. And honestly, DJ doing anything in Episode IX would be a blessing.

Del Toro's performance was off-the-walls in the best of ways, from his stuttering inflection to his murky moral compass. DJ was the kind of character who could show up and save Finn and Rose from the clutches of danger one moment and then sell them out to the First Order in the next. In a franchise founded on a clear black-and-white mentality when it comes to good vs. evil, DJ was a distinct shade of grey.

Considering just what a pivotal role he played in Finn's arc in Last Jedi, it would be incredibly fulfilling to see him re-encounter Finn once again in IX, this time with the war well-and-truly raging between the First Order and the Resistance.
