Star Wars: Episode IX - 9 Reasons JJ Abrams Is The Right Choice To Direct

7. He Has No Other Major Projects On The Horizon

One of the overlooked benefits of bringing Abrams onboard is that he doesn't have any other projects, as a director, on his schedule.

He'll be directing, writing and producing Episode IX, but besides that, he's not doing much else.

He's an executive producer on two TV shows - Castle Rock and Glare - but that executive producer credit means that his creative input is limited - any involvement he has with these two projects will be largely financial.

He's also producing Overlord, the next Cloverfield movie and Mission: Impossible 6, but since all of those are currently deep into production, he won't have much work to do on them - if any at all.

So, with Episode IX set for a December 2019 release date, he basically has two years and three months to make it, with no distractions.

He'll be able to take his time (to a certain degree) in order to make the best movie possible, without worrying about major creative commitments to any other projects.

And given how massive a production Episode IX is likely to be, the ability to give it 100 percent of his attention will prove invaluable.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
