Though The Force Awakens does have its detractors, there aren't many people who won't at least admit that it's a good movie.

It successfully re-introduced Star Wars to the world after a 12-year hiatus (which was no small feat after the negative response to the prequels), introduced new characters like Rey, Finn and BB-8 that people now love, earned the franchise thousands of new fans, and ended in a way that left people wanting more. What else could we ask for?

You never hear people complain about its direction, either. The action was slick and the effects were faultless, shot composition was perfect and the actors all gave strong performances.

On Metacritic, it's tied with The Empire Strikes back as the second-best-reviewed Star Wars movie of all time. It made over $2 billion worldwide. The Force Awakens was a strong, well-received movie, and if Abrams did it once, he can definitely do it again.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
