Star Wars: Episode VIII - 8 Things Fans Want (But Won't Get)
4. For Rey, Poe & Finn To Spend The Majority Of The Movie Together
Despite the fact that Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron were talked up as the "three lead characters" of the new Star Wars trilogy, The Force Awakens didn't feature even a single scene in which they interacted with one another at the same time. Rey didn't even exchange a single word with Poe, who himself went missing for the entire middle of the movie. It was one of the most disappointing aspects of the film, to say the least. If you think back to A New Hope, one of the joys of that movie was watching Luke, Han and Leia running around the Death Star together; the characters had a brilliant kind of chemistry, while the leads of the new trilogy have spent most of their time separated. It's no wonder that fans are hankering for the trio to spend the majority of Episode VIII in one another's company, then, because that's what was missing from The Force Awakens. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem all that likely that things will work out as such. Poe and Finn are likely to team-up again, of course, but Rey is currently on the other side of the galaxy - if she begins training with Luke, it seems thin to suggest she'll join them both. The way that the story is unfolding seems hellbent on keeping these characters apart from one another, which is slightly jarring. Of course, Rian Johnson could switch things up entirely and the trio could wind up together for the entire flick. But considering what we know of the narrative so far, Episode VIII's focus probably won't be on uniting them.
