Star Wars: Episode VIII - 8 Things Fans Want (But Won't Get)

3. For Poe Dameron To Be Gay

This is a nice idea, and lots and lots of Star Wars fans are totally behind the potential notion that ace pilot Poe Dameron might actually be the first gay character in the saga. There's no real evidence to suggest such a thing is actually true, save for a few theories regarding Poe's behaviour (mostly towards Finn) in Episode VII. But none of those theories have any genuine weight, because Poe isn't on-screen enough for anyone to make any proper judgments as to his sexuality. For pretty much the entire time he was in The Force Awakens, he served as a very charming and handsome exposition machine. If Poe turns out to be gay in Episode VIII, it'd be a real landmark move, of course. Thing is, it seems unlikely that Disney will go down this route out of fear of causing some major controversy (because stuff like this always causes a controversy, doesn't it?). But could you imagine if the studio were actually brave enough to make a Star Wars character gay? Would doing so have any influence on the film's box office takings? Probably not, but there's still a risk involved, which makes the whole thing somewhat unlikely on Disney's part. Which is a shame, because it could be a progressive move.
