Star Wars Episode VIII: 9 Subtle Clues In The Force Awakens You Missed

1. It Rhymes

Many have noted, with joy or derision, that The Force Awakens has a lot of similarities to A New Hope. It's been called a reboot, a remake, and a rip-off. It's not really any of those things though; it's a rhyme. George Lucas has long been mocked for saying Star Wars was like poetry but, for better or worse, it's now an intrinsic part of the saga. And this could go beyond The Force Awakens merely containing similar structural beats; we can expect Episode VIII to follow a similar outline to The Empire Strikes Back. Again, there'll (hopefully) be plenty of new stuff in there, and I'm hopeful Rian Johnson will deliver some really interesting new elements as well, but there'll be plenty familiar. The Dark Side regrouping after being defeated and having their base destroyed? Check. A young Force user being trained by a Jedi Master? Check. A darker tone? Check. The Force Awakens reiterates that Star Wars rhymes, and Episode VIII will only serve to prove the rule. What clues did you pick up on in The Force Awakens? Where do you think Episode VIII is headed?
