Star Wars: EVERY Movie & TV Show Ranked Worst To Best
2. A New Hope
The film that started it all, Star Wars: A New Hope was released in 1977 and changed the landscape of cinema and sci-fi forever.
What isn't to love about this film? There's Alec Guinness playing the mysterious "Old Ben Kenobi", the forever iconic first appearance of Darth Vader (who comes into the saga swinging), and a ton of humour, swagger and coolness thanks to the likes of Han Solo, C-3PO, Chewbacca and Princess Leia.
Looking back, the whole thing started out with a quiet, simple story. A young boy learning the ways of long-hidden warrior creed, whose teacher sees him as the key to destroying the evil inhabiting the galaxy.
Well, that's what made it so good, and still does.
From Obi-Wan and Luke's discussion about the fallen Jedi to the introduction of Han Solo (shooting first), A New Hope never once slips up and throws punch after punch with effortless ease.
The final confrontation between Obi-Wan and Vader still hurts, and the mystery surrounding the main characters and the past of the galaxy still amazes despite being thoroughly explored.
