Star Wars: Every Sith Who Turned To The Light Side
10. Kyp Durron
As a child, Kyp Durron was forced to work as a slave in an Imperial mine. When he was rescued by Han Solo and Chewbacca, he was brought to Luke Skywalker, who trained him in the ways of the Force.
But there was a problem. Kyp was too good at wielding the Force. When Luke saw the boy's progress, he told Kyp to slow down, emphasising that the philosophies of the Jedi were more important than the powers. Kyp felt that Luke was wrong, believing they needed to take action to destroy the Sith.
Kyp then took control over an Imperial weapon called the Sun Crusher, intending to use it to vanquish his enemies. However, he didn't realise he was being manipulated by a Sith spirit called Exar Kun. The fallen Sith influenced Kyp to use the weapon to destroy an entire nebula, which resulted in the death of countless people, including Kyp's brother.
After Luke's students vanquished Exar's essence, Kyp returned to normal. Ashamed of his actions, he exiled himself, away from Luke and the Jedi Order. However, he was eventually accepted back into the Order, which is considered one of the most controversial decisions in the Jedi's history.
