For those who grew up with the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, Disney+'s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi event series is a dream come true.

While the films certainly weren't perfect, they also had a lot of positives going for them, chief among them being Ewan McGregor's performance as Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. McGregor absolutely owned the role, leading fans to call for his return in some capacity. That wish was granted at D23 2019, when the actor was confirmed to be playing Obi-Wan once again.

Set 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan Kenobi will offer greater insight into the Jedi's life after the fall of the Republic. And as if this wasn't already exciting enough for Prequel fans, it was confirmed at Disney Investor Day that Hayden Christensen will be reprising his role as Darth Vader for the "rematch of the century."

The series also offers the opportunity to tie up some loose ends from the Prequel Trilogy and the Clone Wars animated series, with the character Commander Cody rumored to be involved as well.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to be helmed by Deborah Chow, who was behind two of The Mandalorian Season 1's best episodes. So, rewrites be damned, Ewan McGregor's return as Obi-Wan is in great hands.
