After Rogue Squadron, the next theatrical Star Wars film will directed by Taika Waititi and written by Waititi and Krysty Wilson-Cairns. This is all we know about the project.

Waititi is no stranger to the Star Wars universe, having directed the Season 1 finale of The Mandalorian and earning an Emmy nomination for his voice over work as the droid IG-11.

His Marvel film, Thor: Ragnarok, shows that he excels directing action movies set in space, so a Star Wars film seems up his alley. Waititi is fresh off an Academy award for writing Jojo Rabbit, and Krysty Wilson-Cairns was recently nominated for an Oscar for writing 1917, so this film's screenplay seems excellent already.

Waititi and Wilson-Cairns are currently writing the screenplay for this mysterious film. While all we can do right now is speculate, knowing the talent already involved solidifies this as one of the most exciting Star Wars projects currently in the works.
