2. Rogue Squadron
Rogue Squadron is set to be the next theatrically released Star Wars film. It will hit theaters Christmas of 2023, and will be directed by Patty Jenkins, of Monster and Wonder Woman fame.
The story will follow starfighter pilots rising through the ranks of the Rebellion. The film promises to feature high adrenaline dog fight style aerial battles in X-Wings.
Jenkins confirmed that the film will tell a new story, and will not serve as an adaptation of the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron novel and video game series. Jenkins has also stated that a mystery writer has been hired, and is almost finished with the film's treatment. This means we could hear some details about the story and characters before too long.
Jenkins seems like a great fit for Star Wars. Her work in the Wonder Woman franchise shows that she can handle big action sequences with ease. She also explained that, as her late father was a fighter pilot, this project is very personal to her.
