Star Wars: Han Solo - 6 Things We Learnt About The Standalone Movie At Celebration
1. What The Filmmakers View As Han Solo's Essential Traits
This isn't exactly new information, but I'd say it's actually the most revealing about the approach the filmmakers are taking with the character; how they actually described Han Solo.
Lord set him up as a man of contrast, intriguing because he doesn't do as he's told, and will do the opposite if you try and pigeonhole him, yet remains endearing thanks to his sarcasm and unreasonably optimistic outlook; he's grouchy and has a big heart. Miller echoed that by describing his as a maverick, a scoundrel, clever but not smart, desperate to present himself as cool, but ultimately someone who'll do the right thing.
Now that's definitely Han, but what's interesting is how they both leaned heavily on the opposing inside and outside of the man, and how his overarching morals ultimately win out over his more rogue-ish tendencies. That's going to be an interesting arc.
