Star Wars: Han Solo - 9 Big Implications Of Lord & Miller's Firing

8. It Won't Be A Comedy

One of the major creative differences that has been cited is a difference of opinion over the character of Han Solo, as well as a clash in how they work between Lord and Miller and writers Lawrence and Jon Kasdan.

THR reference the directors preferring an improvisational style, with Kasdan wanting to stick closer to the script, and quote a source saying: "People need to understand that Han Solo is not a comedic personality. He’s sarcastic and selfish."

That is true, in a sense. Han is a very funny character, but not an outright comedic one, and it sounds like Lord & Miller were going for more overt comedy. With Lucasfilm siding with the Kasdans, it sounds like we can expect a lot less humour in this movie.
