Star Wars: Han Solo - 9 Big Implications Of Lord & Miller's Firing

9. The Release Date Could Change

As it stands, Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (or whatever the film ends up being called) is scheduled for release on May 25, 2018.

It's a date that has long puzzled people, because it goes against the current release schedule of Star Wars movies. With The Force Awakens, Rogue One, and soon The Last Jedi, December is Star Wars month.

It also means just six months between Episode VIII and Han Solo, and muddles the hype building of both films. With a change in director and lots of potential reshoots needed, could the film now be delayed until December after all?

May 25 is of course in keeping with the traditional Star Wars release date, and at the moment there are no plans to shift. But the director change is just another plus in the column for December, meaning pushing it back makes even more sense now..
