Star Wars: Han Solo - 9 Big Implications Of Lord & Miller's Firing

6. Lucasfilm's Control Is Super Tight

If there's one thing this decision really hammers home, it's that Lucasfilm's grip on Star Wars is tighter than a Darth Vader Force choke.

Josh Trank was fired from his unknown anthology movie, although that was more for off-screen reasons. Last year, Rogue One underwent very heavy reshoots, which saw director Gareth Edwards apparently pushed to one side, with Tony Gilroy taking charge, as Lucasfilm made the movie closer to what they wanted.

Now we've got this, with Variety reporting there were major clashes between Lord & Miller and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. Their report states Lord & Miller couldn't run things the way they wanted to, and couldn't believe the tight control Kennedy had on set.

To a degree it's understandable: we're talking about a saga millions of people love and are protective of, as well as Lucasfilm's biggest cash cow that brings in billions of dollars a year. At the same time though, what's the point of hiring creatively different directors and then balk at creative differences?
