There are a lot of people who don't agree with the notion of a young Han Solo movie. We already know the character. Harrison Ford was only 35 in A New Hope anyway. We don't need to ruin his mystique. No one but Ford can play him. So on it went.

While the cast is great, Bradford Young a prodigiously gifted cinematographer, and Kasdan someone who really knows Star Wars, there was one reason above all others to be excited: Phil Lord and Chris Miller directing.

The duo are the best comedy directors in Hollywood, and what's more have proven they can take the most ridiculous ideas and make them into something special. If anyone could pull off a Han Solo movie, it was them.

The Han Solo movie still has those other elements, it'll still take a lot of many, and it might well be good, but the hype certainly dies a bit with this announcement. Again, Edgar Wright and Ant-Man feels like the best comparison.

It was still a good film, but we were left wondering what could've been if he'd seen his vision through, and the prospect itself was less exciting without him. The same goes for Han Solo, and there's a big chance we'll again be left wondering 'what if?'
