Star Wars: How Episode 9 Fixes The Last Jedi’s Biggest Mistakes
7. Finn And Rey United For More Than One Scene
If there's one thing the new Sequel Trilogy has given us, it's an immaculate cast of characters you'd follow to the ends of every earth. Rey and Finn's chemistry made The Force Awakens so watchable, and their escape aboard the Millennium Falcon; discovering their capabilities as pilot and gunner alike, is up there with Luke and Han taking down TIE Fighters in A New Hope.
It was so painfully bizarre then, when it felt as though Rian Johnson couldn't think of a use for Finn, and had him tag along on Rose Tico's mission to Canto Bight, providing comic relief and not a whole lot else.
Finn does eventually reunite with Rey for a meaningful and emotional embrace at the very close of the movie, but it's literally one shot, followed by another when the pair are on the Falcon again.
Thankfully, Rise of the Skywalker's teaser shows not only are Finn and Poe united, but that they're clearly part of the main posse that also includes Rey, all embarking on an adventure as one.
This was backed up by J.J. Abrams saying the movie's story is about the entire squad getting involved, and so early in the press cycle, it's great to see.
