Before he commissioned the creation of the Clone Army on Kamino, Sifo-Dyas trained under Master Lene Kostana and was close friends with Dooku when the two were padawans.

Known as a young Jedi learner to be adventurous and intrigued by the ways the Jedi conducted themselves, he was often jealous of Dooku's superior abilities but learned through his master to control his emotions.

He would later become a Jedi Master and was offered a place on the Council, having been recognised as a great thinker and follower of the Jedi way of life. He took the seat of long-time member Poli Dapatian.
