Kidnapped by pirates at a young age, Depa Billaba was rescued by Master Mace Windu, who took her as his apprentice when he realised she was Force-sensitive.

She was renowned for her lightsaber skills and through Windu she learned how to best use her emotions in combat. With her training complete and her skills perfected, Windu offered her a place by his side on the Jedi Council, which she took, serving until the middle of the Clone Wars before leaving to train a padawan of her own.
