Star Wars: Ranking All The Movie Endings From Worst To Best
7. Episode II: Attack Of The Clones
Attack of the Clones is a mess of a movie. George Lucas' almost complete abandonment of anything resembling a real set gave the entire movie the look of a video game (and not in a good way), while all the flaws of plot and character development from Phantom Menace were only amplified in Episode II.
The love story between Anakin and Padme is particularly bad. Neither Hayden Christensen nor Natalie Portman are given much to do in the way of dialogue (why does this dude hate sand so much?), while the plot essentially plays itself out as Anakin stalking his childhood crush and then pressuring her into loving him. I mean, the guy murders some kids and she just shakes it off.
It should be said, however, that the ending to the movie is not half bad. Finally seeing Yoda engage in a lightsaber battle with Count Dooku and show off his skills is pretty badass, after all. The movie ends proper with Anakin and Padme sneaking off to get married in secret. Despite the flaws in their courtship, it's a solid conclusion to the film and does serve as something of a happy ending, mixed in with the sense of dread for those who know how their story ultimately ends.
