Star Wars: Ranking All The Movie Endings From Worst To Best

6. Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi

The final film in the original Star Wars trilogy features some of the best moments of the entire franchise but there's also a lot of filler along the way.

The ending to Jedi is particularly problematic, as much of it feels like a rehash of what we'd already seen in the previous two films. The final attack on the second Death Star is mostly a rerun of what we saw in the original movie, while the Ewok attack on the Empire troops on Endor is sometimes a bit too silly - should Stormtroopers really come up short against teddy bears with slingshots?

Even so, the climatic confrontation between Luke, Darth Vader and the Emperor is phenomenal, with the final moments between Luke and his father being hugely emotional. It makes the final moments of the film all the better, as the Rebels celebrate their victory over the Empire and the ghosts of Obi-Wan, Yoda and a redeemed Anakin Skywalker watch on. This is what the three original movies were all building to and the payoff of the heroes' victory is a fulfilling one, when all said and done.
